The school under the admission office is committed to assisting prospect students with all the required information and necessary procedures to enter Tupou College.
- The school shall ensure that a student wishes to study at Tupou College is able to apply for admission without discrimination.
- The parent/guardian is responsible for admitting a student and must provide all required information to the school about the student upon admission.
- The Principal or a designated person has the full authority to admit a student to study at Tupou College that meet all the admission requirements. The requirements for admission are provided below.
- Admitting of students with notable issues such as expulsion from other schools, criminal offences, not meeting the admission requirements will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Principal only.
- A Student applying for a place at Tupou College is required to be a full boarding student with no exceptions.
- Students with health issues can be admitted but may require a letter from a medical doctor to ensure that becoming a full-time boarder will not pose a health risk to the student.
- Provisions will exist for students with a disability but may require proper consents from parents\guardians upon admission.
- The School has all the rights not to admit students that do not meet the admission requirements or students that may pose threats to the school. The Principal has the authority to reverse any admission decisions regarding new applications that were rejected by the admission office.
- The school is responsible for the safe keeping of all student admission information and records.
Admission Requirements:
The admission office under the Deputy Administration is responsible for the review and updating of the admission process and all necessary forms required for students admission.
Applicants for a place at Tupou College may include but not limited to the following;
- The student is enrolled to study full-time in any of the School’s programme of studies.
- The student is prepared to become a full-time border
- Must complete the school Registration Form, available on the school’s website or at the Registration site
- New applicants must provide a Birth Certificate or any certified document that can verify the student’s legal identity together with supporting documents shown on the application form or the school’s entry information
- Applicants from other high schools are required to provide a transfer form from their former school and a reference letter for students who left school for more than a term.
- New applicants for the International programme is required to complete a different application form and will go through an interview process. Successful candidates will be offered a place. At the admission interview, parents and the child meet with a team of interview panelists to be managed by the Deputy of Academic or a delegated staff.
- Parents are required to provide, upon admission, all necessary information required by the school for student well-being and education such as the following;
o Legal name of the student
o Any special talents of the student
o Any health issues
o Any special needs of their child
o Full disclosure of details of any incidents or disciplinary action taken at the student’s previous school
- Upon admission, the Deputy Principal (Admin) will notify appropriate staff of any special needs, health or disability issues regarding a student.
Withdrawal Process:
A student leaving the school is required to;
- Inform the admission office to complete the withdrawal process and to remove the names from the school role. Students are required to complete all financial requirements or any assigned punishment duties before they leave the school.
- Complete the transfer form if required to enroll at another school
- Complete the request for reference form if required
– Transfer forms and reference letters will not be issued by the admission office for students who failed to complete all required fees and assigned punishment duties.
– A student withdrawn from boarding or failed to attend school for at least 2 weeks consecutively without any notifications from parents or guardians will be treated as having been withdrawn from school and his name will be removed from the school roll.
Referral of Students:
New applicants with previous issues that may pose a threat to the well being of the school and the student body are required to attend a counselling session with the school counsellor before completing the admission process.
Disability Provisions:
Tupou College will ensure that students with a disability are able to access and respond to all admission requirements. The Principal has the authority to decline any applicants with disability if the school is not equipped with the necessary facilities to care for students with disabilities. At Admission, if parents or guardians have any concerns regarding the needs of their child, they should express it during the admission process.
Records:
All admission records are maintained for each student and will be kept by the school unless requested by the parents or guardians.
