Ko e ngāhi tu’utu’uni (College Rules)

‘Oku fokotu’u pe ‘a e ngaahi Laó mo e ngaahi Tu’utu’uní, ke ne tataki kitautolu ‘i he’etau nofo mo ‘etau ngāue ‘i he Kolisí ni. Pea kuo pau ke tau tauhi ‘a e ngaahi Laó mo e ngaahi Tu’utu’uní kae hao mo malu ‘a ‘etau nofó mo ‘etau akó. (The College rules and regulations are in place to guide us through our studies and ensure our safety.)

Luke 10: 27 “Te ke ‘ofa ki he ‘Eiki ko ho ‘Otua ‘o fai ‘aki ‘a e kotoa ‘o ho loto, mo e kotoa ‘o ho laumalie, mo e kotoa ‘o ho ivi, mo e kotoa ‘o ho ‘atamai; pea te ke ‘ofa ki ho kaunga’api ‘o hange ko ho’o ‘ofa kiate koe.”Luke 10: 27 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

‘Oku fatu ‘etau ngaahi tu’utu’uni, mei he Lao Koula ‘o e mo’ui pea poupou ki ai ‘a e ongo folofola ko ‘eni, ‘oku kau tonu ki he’etau mo’ui fakaakó. (Our College rules are grounded in the golden rule, supported by these two Bible verses that guide our educational journey.)

Ko e Ngaahi Tu’utu’uni Faka-Kolisi (College Regulations)

‘Oku vahevahe pe ‘a e Ngaahi Tu’utu’uni Faka-Kolisí ki he me’a lalahi ‘e ua (The College Rules are divided into two categories)

  1. Ko e ngaahi me’a ke fai pea mo e(actions to take and)
  2. Ko e ngaahi me’a ke tuku. (actions to avoid – or things not to do.)

1.            Ko e ngaahi me’a ke fai pea mo e (actions to take and) – ‘Apasia ‘Otua (Fear the Lord)

1.1 Mo’ui Fakaongoongo Talangofua ki he kau Tiutá mo e kau Matāpulé. Tauhi taimi, fanongo ki he fafangú pea tulituli ki he ngaahi polokalama kotoa ‘a e Kolisí.1.1 Be Obedient Listen to and follow the instructions of the tutors and prefects. Be punctual, pay attention to the bell, and attend all school programs.
1.2 ‘Ofa mo Fakamelino ‘Ulungaanga ‘ofa mo anga fakakaume’a, nofo melino mo e taha kotoa pe pea mo fakakaukau’i ha lelei ke fai.1.2 Be kind and be a peace maker Choose to be kind to your fellow students and strive to make peace. Take the initiative to do good and be helpful.
1.3 Tauhi Tu’utu’uni Fakakakato ‘a e ngaahi naunau kotoa ‘oku fiema’u ki he polokalama takitaha, ‘o hangē ko e Himi mo e Tohitapu ki he ngaahi ouau Fakalotú, naunau ako ki he ngaahi kalasi, ta’ovala faka-kolisi mo e ‘unga ki he teunga ‘i he taimi ‘oku fiema’u ai; kau ai mo e ngaahi teunga ki he ako, ngāue mo e lotu; kau ai mo e me’a mohenga mo e ngaahi fiema’u fakakolisi kotoa pe.1.3 Compliance Ensure that you have all the necessary resources required, such as the Bible and Hymn book for Church programs, stationery for your classes, your uniform, bedding, and any other items needed for college.  
1.4 ‘Ulungaanga Maau Kosi fakalelei ‘a e ‘ulu pea tauhi mo e sino ke ma’a pea tokanga ki he haisini.  1.4 Hygiene Be hygienic, keep yourself clean, and maintain a neat appearance by keeping your hair trimmed as a student.
1.5 Faitotonu Ka ke ka ‘ilo ki ha me’a ‘oku fakatu’utamaki pe kau kovi ki he mo’ui mo e nofo ‘i he Kolisi, kau ai ha ‘ulungaanga fakatamaiki, mo ha fa’ufa’u ha kovi ke fakahoko, ‘oku fiema’u ke ke lipooti ki ha Tiuta pe ko e kau Taki ‘o e Kolisí, ‘i he vave tahá.1.5 Do the right thing – do it right If you witness any wrongdoing, inappropriate behavior, or people colluding, you should report it to the Head Tutor or any member of the Leadership Team immediately.  
1.6 ‘Ofa mo Mamahi’i me’a ‘Ofa mo tauhi ’a e ngaahi koloa ‘a e Kolisi pea mo ho’o ki’i naunau ako pea mo ho’o ki’i nga’oto’ota ‘oku ke lava mai moia mei ’api hange ko ho’o vala mo e mohenga. Lipooti he vave tahá ha fakatu’utamaki ‘oku ke tokanga’i ‘oku hoko ki ha tamasi’i ako pe ko e maumau ‘o ha naunau ‘a e Kolisí.1.6 Be mindful You are expected to respect and take care of both the College’s property and your personal belongings, including your bedding and clothes. If you witness harassment, bullying, or damage to property, please report it to the Executives immediately.

Kapau ko ha toe ‘uhinga kehe, kuo pau ke lava mai ‘a e Tauhi Fānaú ‘o fakahoko tonu mai ki he Tiuta Lahí.1.7 Communications is key Always get permission before excusing yourself from a school program. If a tutor asks you to do something, make sure to get approval from the Head Tutor first. If you’re absent due to illness, provide a sick leave notice from a doctor. For any other reasons, have your parents or guardian contact the Head Tutor.
1.8 Fakafehokotaki Lelei Tokanga ke fakahoko ki he kau Tauhi Fānaú, ‘a e ngaahi tu’utu’uni faka-kolisi kotoa ‘o fekau’aki mo e ngaahi kavenga mo ha ngaahi fatongia ‘oku kau tonu kiate kinautolu.1.8 Sharing accurate and relevant information Ensure that your parents or guardian are properly informed about the College obligations they need to be involved in.
1.9 Kamata Tonu, Faka’osi Lelei Kuo pau ke tu’u ‘a e tamasi’i kotoa mei he mohengá ‘i he taimi ‘ā ‘a e Kolisí (6 pongipongi), ‘o tokanga ki he ngaahi Lotu Fāmili Fakafale. Kuo pau ke maau ‘a e toko taha kotoa ki hono feitu’u totonu ‘oku mohe ai ‘i he toe miniti 15 ki he taimi mohe ‘a e Kolisí; ko e taimi fakalongolongo ia ‘o taki taha fai ‘ene fakalaulauloto mo e lotu lilo ‘o teuteu ki he mohe mālōlō (taimi 10 po’uli).1.9 Start right, Finish strong You are expected to wake up at 6 a.m. for dormitory prayers. At the end of the day, you should be in your bed 15 minutes before sleep time. You are encouraged to take time for reflection and quiet prayers before bedtime at 10 p.m    
1.10 Faka’apa’apa mo Toka’i Tali “ko au” pea ‘unu ‘o fakaongo ki he Tiuta pe Matāpule ‘oku ui atu pe fakahoko atu ha fekau. Ka lava ‘a e fekaú pea foki ‘o fakahoko ki he Tiutá ‘a e iku’angá.  1.10 Be courteous and respectful When you are called, respond by saying “ko au” and approach the tutor, prefect, or anyone calling you to carry out a task. Once you have completed the errand, report back to the person who called you.
1.11 Tamaio’eiki Lototō Ko e me’a lelei ke te feinga ma’u pe ‘i he taimi kotoa pe – “ke te ‘i he feitu’u totonu, ‘i he taimi totonu, ‘o fai ‘a e me’a totonu.”  1.11 Be honest – Act with integrity Don’t be afraid to try and make mistakes. Always be in the rightplace at the right time, and do the right thing with honesty and responsibility.
1.12 Tōnunga he Fatongiá Fakapapau’i ko e me’a ‘oku ke faí, ‘e fiefia ai ho’o ongo mātu’a, pea fakamālō’ia ‘e he kau Tiutá, ka ko e mahu’inga tahá, ko ‘ene fakahoifua ki he ‘Otuá.1.12 Be faithful and Accountable Ensure that everything you do reflects well on your parents, your teachers, and, most importantly, gains the approval of God.  

2.         Ko e ngaahi me’a ke tuku pea afe mei ai (Actions to avoid and Things not to do) – Afe mei he Kovi (Depart from Evil)

2.1 ‘Oua ‘e lea ta’etaau mo kapekape, talanoa ta’e’ofa, loi mo ngutu lau.2.1 Refrain from speaking offensive language, gossiping, putting others down, or telling lies.
2.2 ‘Oua ‘e ‘alu noa’ia ki he ‘api ‘o e kau Tiutá, tukukehe ka ko ha fekau, fiema’u tokoni pe ko ha lipooti ‘o ha me’a ‘oku hoko.2.2 You are not allowed to go to a tutor’s home unless you are asked to run an errand, need assistance, or need to report an incident.
2.3 ‘Oua ‘e kaiha’a mo alaala noa. Tapu ‘aupito ke hae ha puha pea ke to’o fakamalohi ha me’a mei ha taha.  2.3 You are prohibited from touching another student’s property without their permission. Do not steal, open someone’s clothing box, or take things from others by force.
2.4 ‘Oua ‘e houtamaki pe mo’ui fakaehaua pea tapu ‘aupito ‘a e ‘ulungaanga faka-Sotoma pea mo ha ngaahi anga fakapapeliane peheé. ‘E ‘ave ‘a e ngaahi maumaulao pehe ni ki he ngaahi ma’u mafai pule pea ‘e fai ‘a e ngāue faka-lao kiai.  2.4 Bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Sexual harassment, sodomy, or any form of violent or inappropriate behavior is strictly prohibited. Any abusive behavior, in any form, is unacceptable and will be reported to the authorities, with legal consequences.
2.5 ‘Oku tapu mamafa ‘a e ifi tapaká, vape, mo e mihi ‘o ha penisini, glue pe ha toe me’a pe ‘oku fakatu’utamaki ki he mo’ui. ‘E iku tuku fakataimi ko e ki tu’a mei he ako ‘o ka ma’u.2.5 Smoking cigarettes, vaping, sniffing petrol, glue, or any other harmful substances is strictly prohibited. Engaging in such behavior may result in suspension from school.  
2.6 ‘Oku tapu ‘aupito ‘a e inu kava malohí mo e faito’o konatapú mo e fe’auakí. ‘Oku tautea tuli ‘aupito ‘a e ngaahi to’onga ko iá mei he Kolisí2.6 The use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any form of sexual activity is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion.  
2.7 ‘Oku ‘ikai fiema’u ke tā tatau ha kupu pe ‘o e sinó, mo ‘ai ‘a e ngaahi teunga fakamātatu’a ki he nofó pe tui siueli ki he ako hangē ko e hau ‘i he telingá, mama ‘i he nimá pe va’e, mo ha ngaahi vesa fakasakesake.2.7 You are not allowed to have tattoos on your body, wear inappropriate clothing, or wear jewelry such as earrings, rings, or bracelets to school.  
2.8 ‘Oku tapu ‘a e ngaahi teu fakafefine ‘o hange ko e valivali, fusi kemo mo e vali ‘ulu. ‘Oku tapu mo e kosi fiepau’u ‘o e ‘ulu mo e ngaahi teunga ‘oku matamata fie kovi.  2.8 You are not allowed to dress like a girl, wear makeup, pluck your eyebrows, or dye your hair. You are also prohibited from cutting your hair inappropriately or wearing clothing that makes you look untidy or inappropriate.
2.9 ‘Oku tapu ‘a e tā tepi, letiō mo e ‘omi telefoni to’oto’o ke ngāue ‘aki ‘i ‘Apiakó ni. Tapu foki ke ke telefoni ‘o kole fasi ki he ngaahi letiō mo fetu’utaki fakalanga kē ki ha kakai kehe.2.9 Radio, music players, and phones are not allowed on school premises. You are also prohibited from calling radio stations to make requests or contacting others to create fights or conflicts.
2.10 ‘Oku tapu ‘a e mama’o ta’e poaki mei ha polokalama ‘a e Kolisí pe toe ‘i ha feitu’u kehe mei he feitu’u ‘oku lolotonga ‘i ai ‘a e kolisi (ko e ‘elia tapu ia).2.10 You are not allowed to be absent without permission or appear in other places while a school program is in session.  
2.11 ‘Oku tapu ‘a e inu niu pea mo e toli ‘o ha ngoue ‘a e Kolisi ta’e ma’u ha ngofua.  2.11 You are not allowed to pick or drink coconuts, or take fruit from any trees on the school grounds without permission.
2.12 ‘Oku tapu ke fuhu, tā pe fakamamahi’i ha fānauako ‘i he Kolisí ni.  2.12 Fighting, hitting, smacking, of any form of physical abuse towards another student is strictly prohibited.
2.13 ‘Oku tapu mamafa ke kau ki ha kē faka’apiako, fakalavea ‘o ha fanauako pe maumau’i ‘o ha’anau ngaahi naunau.  2.13 Fighting with students from other schools, causing grievous bodily harm, or damaging the property of other schools is strictly prohibited.
2.14 ‘Oku anga kovi ke fakataau ki he kau Tiutá, kau Matāpule pea mo ha ngaahi mātu’a ‘oku ‘a’ahi mai ki he Kolisí.  2.14 Any form of disrespect towards a tutor, prefect, parent, guardian, or guest of the school is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
2.15 ‘Oku tapu ke mavahe mei he Kolisi ‘i ha fa’ahinga ‘uhinga fakatamaiki ako, ta’e feongoongoi mo e kau Taki ‘o e Kolisi. Kau ai ‘a e loto taha ke fai ha hia pe ha fakataha fakapulipuli ‘o ‘ikai ‘ilo ki ai ‘a e kau Tiutá pea mo e kau Taki ‘o e Kolisí.  2.15 You are strictly prohibited from leaving the school grounds or conspiring with other students without the approval of the school leadership. This includes agreeing to engage in criminal activities or meeting secretly without anyone’s knowledge. You are encouraged to speak up and report any such behavior.
2.16 ‘Oku ‘ikai ngofua ke kohikohi’i mo maumau’i ‘a e ngaahi koloa ‘a e Kolisi ‘o hange ko e tepile, sea, holisi, faliki etc.  2.16 You are not allowed to write on the school’s walls, damage chairs, tables, or engage in graffiti of any kind anywhere on the school premises.
2.17 ‘Oku tapu ke maumau’i ha Lao ‘o e Fonuá pe ko e Siasí. ‘Ilonga ha me’a ‘oku ke ongo’i he’ikai fiemālie ki ai ‘a e kau taki ‘o e Kolisí pea ‘ikai hoifua mai ki ai ‘a e ‘Eikí, feinga ‘aki ‘a e mālohi tahá, ke fakamama’o mei ai.  2.17 You are strictly prohibited from breaking the laws of Tonga or the teachings of the Church. If you are aware of any actions that go against the leadership or are not in alignment with God’s approval, you are urged to refrain from them and distance yourself from wrongdoing.

Ko e Ngaahi Lao mo e Ngaahi Tu’utu’uni ‘i ‘olungá, ko e konga pe ia ‘oku ala hiki atu ‘i he taimí ni, ‘o kau tonu ki he ngaahi fekau ke fai mo e ngaahi tō’onga ke ta’ofi. Pea ‘e toe fakalelei mo fakalahi ‘amui ‘i ha taimi ‘oku fiema’u ke tanaki ki ai. Ka ko hono fakakakato mo’oni ‘etau ngaahi Laó mo e Tu’utu’uní ‘e ma’u ia mei he Fekau ‘e 10 pea mo e Malanga he Mo’ungá.

For a comprehensive understanding, the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount must be regarded as foundational, non-negotiable principles that guide your behavior and actions

‘Oku ‘i ai pe foki pea mo ‘etau Ngaahi Lao ‘oku “ta’e hiki”, ka kuo tauhi pe ia ‘i he “konisenisi” ke toutou fanafana mai – “Afe mei he koví ‘o fai lelei!” Ka ‘i ai ha ngaahi me’a fakatu’utu’uni ‘oku faingata’a’ia ai ha tamasi’i ako, ha kalasi, ha fale pe ha toe kulupu pe; mou kataki ‘o fetu’utaki leva ki he kau Taki ‘o ‘etau nofo ‘i hotau ‘Apí ni.

We also have unwritten rules, held within our conscience, constantly reminding us to “depart from evil and do good.” If you are struggling to adhere to or comply with the rules, please reach out to the Leadership Team for guidance and support.

Ko ‘etau ngaahi Tu’utu’uní, ‘oku ‘ikai taumu’a ke fakapopula mo fakafaingata’a’ia’i ‘a e mo’uí; ka ‘oku kaveinga pē ke fakamā’opo’opo, fakatau’atāina mo fakamo’ui.

The rules are not meant to bind or constrain you; they are there to guide you, protect you, and empower you to grow into a stronger, more disciplined individual. They are meant to set you free, not hold you back, and to help you flourish in every aspect of your life.

Your Classroom Environment

1.         Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Ko e Angama’a ‘oku ofi taha ki he anga faka-’Otua. (Keep your classroom nice and clean all the time. Don’t litter. Put all rubbish in a bin!)

2.         Love your neighbours as yourself!

‘Ofa ho kaunga’api hange ko ho ‘ofa ‘iate koe! (Don’t take other people’s things without asking first. Please return to the rightful owner what is not yours. Treat your fellow classmates with love and respect.)

3.         Treat your classroom with love and respect.

Tauhi ho lokiako ‘aki ‘a e ‘ofa mo e faka’apa’apa’ia. (Your classroom is your learning center. Treat the doors, louvres, blackboards/whiteboards, desks, and chairs etc. with care. Other people have made sacrifices to buy you these equipment and furniture to enhance your study. Be grateful and treat them as yours with respect.)

4.         Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Ko e ‘apasia ‘Otua ko e kamata’anga ia ‘o e poto. (Whatever you do, do it with reverence for God.)

5.         Depart from evil and walk in His light.

Hola mei he kovi; lalaka he ‘Ene maama. (Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, praiseworthy… think about such things.)

Your School Environment

1.         Your School is your home away from home.

Ko ho ‘api pe mo eni (Toloa). (Your school family here loves you and is willing to help you if you let them.)

2.         Rubbish is everyone’s business.

Ko e veve, ko e ngāue kotoa pe ‘a kitautolu. (Please help keep your school clean and green. Don’t throw your rubbish around. Pick up any rubbish you meet on the way.)
